A game of hack anyone!? I didn’t grow up playing hacky sack and it was more than ten years into my marriage before I joined the hack circle. Sometimes, I wish I had joined the group sooner. It ended up being one of the best combination of memories I would have.

For those of you who don’t know what I am talking about, the game of hack is the simple kicking of a ball in a circle of people. The ball is somewhere between the size of a golf ball and a tennis ball. Did I mention you can only use your feet to touch the ball?

So, it wasn’t as simple as it sounded and it took a few times of learning how to coordinate my body to get into to it. Once I figured it out, though, I couldn’t get enough.

Getting together to play hack wasn’t just about the fellowship, although we always had a blast. It was also a great form of letting stress go. I’m extremely guilty of kicking the ball way too hard a few times! There were many times when all one of us had to do was send out a text and we’d meet. The text would simply say “Hack?”. We all understood the necessity of it.

We’ve moved away from the people we used to play with all the time and it’s difficult to find others who play. There’s been many times when I wanted to send out the hack text. In some ways, I wish there was a way to play it virtually, just to have the connection again. Maybe there is??? I need to look it up and find out. If not, maybe I could figure out how to create it!

Having a connection like that stays with you and you miss it when it’s not nearby. I love the fellowship. I love the people I played with and I love being silly and kicking a little ball around!
